Common questions

What if I am not on the voters list?

You can still vote. Visit the Service Burlington counter on the first floor of City Hall (426 Brant St.) during business hours (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.) from September 1 through October 23. You can also add or change your information at your voting location on October 26. See the City’s voters-list instructions.

What do I need to bring when I vote in person?

Bring your voter information letter if you have one and one piece of valid identification showing your name and Burlington address. Photo ID is not required. See the City’s list of acceptable documents.

What if I do not have a voter information letter?

You can still vote in person if you are eligible. Bring one valid piece of identification showing your name and address. Election staff can help confirm your eligibility.

What if I cannot vote online or in person?

You may appoint an eligible person in Burlington to vote by proxy. You and your proxy must complete an Appointment for Voting Proxy Form and have it certified by the Office of the City Clerk. Contact the City Clerk for details closer to the election.

Who am I voting for?

Burlington voters elect the Mayor, one City Councillor for their ward, and school board trustee(s) based on their school support. See the City’s list of candidates as nominations are confirmed.
